New Moto Z Devices Are Looking Fabulous

Since it took over Motorola, Lenovo was pretty quiet about its new products. They’ve released a couple of interesting models (Zuk 2 Pro is really cool, among others), but not much else. It seems that they’ve been holding out new releases for this year’s Tech World event, which was packed with exciting announcements. New Moto Z line, the first Project Tango phone and more could be seen at it. Let’s see two new Moto Z devices presented two days ago in San Francisco at Lenovo’s Tech World event.

Moto Z 1

It seems that modular phones are indeed the future of smartphones. Project Ara, LG G5, and now the new Moto Z. While aren’t really on the same level of modular technology, all of these phones are making a push in order to bring modular technology to masses. While Project Ara is far from being ready for mass market, and G5 looking like a semi-modular device packing modules that aren’t really all that exciting, Moto Z is the first device coming with seriously exciting modular accessories.

First, let’s talk a bit about specs. Moto Z and Moto Z Force are indeed powerful devices, and when you add an incredibly thin design to the formula, you get two extremely good looking phones packing plenty of power, awesome display and, of course, modules compatibility. Moto Z has a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 820 chipset, a nice 13 MP main camera, and a solid 2600 mAh battery. Although battery looks like it could be a bit bigger, when you realize that the phone is just 5.2 mm (0.20 in) thick that battery looks like impossible to put into that extremely slim body. Since the phone is as thin as it gets, there isn’t a 3.5 mm headphone jack. If you want to hook up headphones, you’ll have to use USB Type-C adapter of Bluetooth.

Moto Z Force

Moto Z Force has all that, but its battery is more serious with 3500 mAh, it has a 21 MP main camera and is slightly thicker with 7 mm. Both phones feature all-metal design and come with a fingerprint sensor, 4 gigs of RAM and a choice between 32 or 64 gigabytes of internal storage.

Moto Mod system is the best modular solution right now. Its modules are easy to put on and take off because all you have to do is just place a module on the back of the phone and powerful magnets will do the rest of the work. Easy, fast and so cool. Mods for G5 now look like something coming back from 20th century, with their complicated installation, and bulky design. Moto Z modules look so attractive, covering the back of device completely, looking like some fashion accessory, and giving the protection as well.

Moto Z Modules

These modules come with a variety of functions. The most interesting one is a mini projector called Moto Insta-share Projector; it comes with an integrated kickstand and up to 70’’ projection size. Or JBL SoundBoost Speake, a powerful stereo speaker that will start a party anywhere. Interesting thing is that all modules shown come with extra battery power, meaning that you’ll get some extra juice no matter which module is equipped. Lenovo also announced that they will release a Moto Mod Development Kit; enabling third party developers to create any mod they want.

New Moto Z line is really exciting and we can’t wait for these phones to be released, it seems that Lenovo finally started to use Motorola brand as it should, bringing innovation and attractive, futuristic design, two things Motorola always was about.
